Edited 6 days agofor anyone wondering why this isn't an unofficial release according to ormolycka: "I have the IPR forms for this release. I also put my full name and signed them all. If it is a bootleg, I would be "in trouble" for doing such a thing. IPR = intellectual property rights. The other pressings that say bootleg surely don't have that. We released Exmilitary in full on Ormolycka in July of 2011, before the band had even played a show. I am friends with everyone who has ever done anything on this dumb not-for-profit "label" and we all have worked together on everything. Even those tapes were a discussion, we called them "official bootlegs" because Death Grips has major label deals and publishing deals that limit what they do as a project under their name. This happens for a lot of projects that "blow up". The internet does not know a lot of these things because they are mostly just people who are sitting at a keyboard without legal experience in the music business. Exmilitary came out on Third Worlds (quickly) when it did because of uncleared samples and a pending deal."

#466 right here! to start off, this is the 3rd version of exmilitary i've owned. i had a clear 2 LP boot, an official REAL pressing, and this one. this one clears the official one. shocker.
orm may have a bad rep but DAMN does he know how to master. thru the walls had me get up from my chair and restart the song. that's how good it is. it is insanely clear and, just sounds damn good. despite how much music is on each side, it doesn't sound too compressed, especially compared to the OG vinyl.
not trying to sound like an orm dickrider but, happy he sent this out with the trick dice LP i ordered. was afraid he didn't have it at all and wouldn't ship it. either way fire LP. sucks you gotta get it via resell now! -
Orm still owes me an Ugly Mane tape from i don't even know how many years ago. Never bought from him since but seemed way more secure this time around. Orm still sucks for still owing lotsa orders (not exaggerated) but this pressing sound awesome. Never had a boot or the og but can't complain at all about this. The main rattling bass in Guillotine sounds so detailed. Wish they had fixed the volume spike on Spread Eagle and another track (this is how the digital is as well)
The remix was a waste of vinyl tho, wtf man. It's already so much audio on one side without that remix. Can't help but wonder if side B could have had a better soundstage with less grooves from the remix.
Color is great. One reason I never wanted those other bootlegs is cause the colors are so stupid lol. This camo green really goes hard
and in of the "official" pressing debate, Orm has made it clear on his end the band is aware of this pressing. Don't hold your breath waiting for DG to make an official statement approving of this release. Aside from them being reclusive, it's also in their interest to not bring more attention to this press with all the uncleared samples. Kinda fumbled with only 500 pressed tho. I know they wanna keep it low key but I think they could have made another 500 safely. -
Wow, just wow! I'm not going to get into any of the controversy surrounding Orm (largely perpetuated and exaggerated on Reddit btw). He didn't cut a single cost with this one. The quality of everything is 10/10, crazy attention to detail throughout and the decision to get this pressed at Burlington Records was *clearly* the correct move. The sound is on par with my best sounding records (& better sounding than a lot). I do not have a cheap system btw and have very high standards when it comes to sound.
This controversial repress was a perfect example of not believing everything you read online. The amount of people who were confidently telling everyone that this repress was a scam and he was going to rip everyone off is laughable.
Congrats to everyone who was able to pickup one of the 500 copies! Sadly this is sold out now so the rest of y'all are going to need to purchase on the secondary market, and I would do this soon as the price is only going to increase. Tbh I would suggest not wasting your money on any of the bootlegs out there, and I've now seen multiple people say that this sounds way better than the OG official press... just try and get your hands on this one. -
An amazing press that is sold out now. Godspeed to anybody unfortunate enough to have missed out on buying it direct.

I own the original pressing from 2011 and a bootleg from 2022. This pressing is SIGNIFICANTLY better than both. Which I’m honestly shocked by. It’s perfect.

Edited 27 days agoIf you’ve wanted this album, and do not buy this while you can, you are setting yourself up for regret. Please buy this before it sells out and flippers own the market.

Edited 27 days agomy comment has been deleted twice just saying that this is as official a repress as we will ever get. i have no idea why people are taking issue with this statement. maybe i need to say something about the record itself?
it's a good pressing, sounds great, albeit a bit quiet honestly. everything else is great and i feel that my wish for a good quality exmilitary record has been answered. -
