Funny thing about the previous comment. To say you can’t get a mint condition. Unlike Velvet Undergrounds banana peel, this one has to be not intact. So it’s kinda like a used scratch off? Sorry for my misunderstanding but it’s seems like that.

Actually, I have found 6 copies of the yesterday And today. Second state Buchcer covers. In the past 25 years. Four were at yard sales. And two from a Thrift store. The most I have ever paid for one was $10.and the least was 50 cents. Yep, 50 cents. It did not have the vinyl but that did not bother me at all. Because I had an extra copy at home. Now if the trunk cover is in good condition do not peel the cover. I know it is tempting. But do not do it unless you know what you are doing. Because it is not easy. even if know how to peel it. It takes time. Sometimes even days. Ok if you do attempt to peel the cover. This is how you start. I have found this to be the best way for me. Take your time. Take your time. Start with some masking tape at the bottom or top of slick. Put a small piece of tape on the slick and start pulling the trunk cover off. Small peaces at a time. This takes some time. So go slow. After a short time of peeling the trunk cover, You will start seeing the Bucher cover underneath. That was the easy part . Now for the hard part. Whatever you do not do not use water or steam. This is where a lot of covers got damaged and start falling apart at the seams. The glues the factory used to glue the slick over Bucher slick was a water-based product. Some of the factors used a stronger glue than others. Ok, now the next step is to remove the paper residue. Start with your fingers to remove as much of the dry residue as possible. Move slowly along the edges try not to start pulling the Bucher off. Move slowly. After you have removed as much as you possibly can. Now the hardest part. Removing the glue from the slick. It all depends on the glue the factory used to past the slick. Sometimes I use alcohol and sometimes I use a lite amount of asatone. And sometimes a little water it all depends. Be careful. Do not use these products.( Unless you are fully aware of what you are doing. You can really hurt yourself or others with these products )

I know nothing about catag. Here is what I know. The back cover top left has the Capital and EMI logo. The right side says it is High Fidelity T-2553 and notes it is also available in stereo. The bottom of back cover indicates it is monofonic microgroove recording. In small print it says made in USA factories in Sranton PA, Los Angeles, and Jacksonville FL. The RIAA logo has a 3 to the left of it. On the LP side 1 has T-X-1-2553 and side 2 had T-X-2-2553. I peeled enough up to reveal their legs and white lab coats, John's finger and a portion of raw meat. I do not know how to proceed without damaging the Butcher cover, or the Trunk cover.

From notes
Underneath the regular 'trunk' cover was the so-called 'baby butcher' cover of this release which induced such an outrage that the album was recalled and new artwork was created from an earlier Beatles photoshoot. A small number of copies escaped and appeared on the market nonetheless. These are known as ''first state'' butcher covers. Not wanting to lose time with waiting until the new covers were ready, Capitol decided to first use the new front slicks and glue them over the original artwork, to hide its offensive picture from the public eye. The (not too many) copies of this that came unto the market are known as ''second state'' butcher covers. These are discernible by checking the cover in the middle on the right hand side. If the ''butcher'' artwork is underneath, a dark triangle (of Ringo's turtleneck) shines through. If the pasted slick is removed, as on this copy, and the original artwork thus restored the release is known as a ''third state'' butcher cover.
