Second comment- one of those pressings where your like THIS IS A RECORD! ??? amazing clean and quiet
-
This is a solid pressing. It’s got a beautiful warm presence with lots of space between the instruments (oh god, I’m starting to sound like those guys on YouTube!). It’s also really dead quiet. Oh, and the music’s pretty great too. A great deal at this price.

Edited one year agoAside from a little high-end harshness and sibilance, the sound is great — however, my disc was pressed significantly off center. I don't have a perfect ear, and so I can't say there's massive pitch deviation, but the final track on side B sounds a little wonky to me in places. Really disappointing; this seems like a pretty basic defect to miss during QC (assuming there was any!).

Sound quality is above average. LP is flat and spins true. Likely a digital assisted reissue. But if you know this music and the band….it’s still an enjoyable listening experience if you’re looking to replace an OG that’s worn out.

yes! my favourite dead album with exceptions like eyes of the world great clean sound! probably their best harminies recorded

ing the chorus of praises for this one…this is what’s in stock on Amazon for $20, and is now sitting proudly alongside my 2011 American Beauty. Endgame pressing for a bargain, Rhino never needed a separate “hifi” line

I don't need to tell you all that this is one of the best sounding records I own. Up there with my half-speed mastered Fukui's, and the Primus remasters. Really amazing sound, it feels like the band is in the room with you.
That being said, did anyone else get their copy with the back cover printed upside-down? -

Edited 3 years agoExcellent sound!! I can confirm a pop and click about half way through Cumberland Blues, but no skip. I'm going to give it a good scrub then run through my ultrasonic machine. I ran it through my US first before playing, which probably minimized the "skip" people are talking about. Even still, after a cleaning, still a tad bit of minor surface noise. Other than that, this pressing sounds better than my 70s press. EDIT: I was able to remove the pop on Cumberland, as well as a good amount of surface noise thru Dire Wolf. I may try another cleaning and see what happens. Cleaned with AI#15, vacuum, rinse, US@40khz, vacuum/rinse.
