So, in 1971 the Dead remixed the album to tone down some of the more out-there production of the 1969 original, according to Allmusic. Is this Bellman cut using the 1969 mix then?

outstanding pressing!! Chris bellman did a great job on this american beauty and working mans dead as well, however anthem of the sun is horrid and first G.D first LP but everything else bellman has cut on these rhino reissues are pure gold to the ears!!!!!!!!!!!!! vinyl me please anthem of the sun is outstanding though

Clean pressing- mix master is really good- I can imagine a better mix on most stuff but you dont know what the tapes sounded like- this mastering and pressing is about as good as youll find

Beautiful pressing. The clarity is astounding. Literally zero issues. Get this one if you can’t find an original/early press in nice shape

All of the songs on this album are great BUT “What’s become of the Baby” is hard for me to listen to… sounds like a drowning cat is slowly dying from heat exhaustion to me… not my cup of tea. It stinks this song takes up half of the second side of the album. Must of been mad Smokey when they thought that song up.

Nice remastering from the old tapes, specially the keybords but you have to love this psychedelic period from the Dead.

interesting they use the w7 label but the1971 mix was never on this label.

Definitely a Chris Bellman cut. It has his initials in the dead wax. I've never heard the much-maligned recent repressing of the 1969 mix, but this one sounds pretty clear and dynamic.

Excellent pressing, great sound. I actually prefer the 1971 remix to the original 1969 release.
