The album features a number of classic tracks, including the hit single "Right Place Wrong Time", which is one of Dr. John's most recognizable songs. The song is built around a driving funk rhythm, with a catchy hook. In The Right Place achieved its peak position on the Billboard 200 chart, spending a total of 33 weeks on the chart and peaking at #24 on June 23, 1973 making it Dr. John’s highest charting album. Featuring some top-notch musicians, including of The Meters and Ralph MacDonald, who add their own unique flavor to the mix. The production is slick and polished, but still has a raw, gritty feel that perfectly captures the spirit of New Orleans music.

All the songs have been heavily edited and still doesn't exist a proper version with the full takes of all the tracks of this album to these days.
