What is the difference between this set and the other US set in the release list? Both have the same barcode number and the outer box photos are the same.

Excellent boxset! The discs come in their own vinyl-reminiscent plastic sleeves, with all of the era-specific inserts included (like Capitol adverts or paper sleeves) and the disc covers are made out of a very solid and hard card material. The book included is a great read, and overall this boxset has a tremendous amount of value.

On the HARD DAY'S NIGHT album included here tracks #3 and #15-"I'LL CRY INSTEAD" are identical-they are both in mono, so there is no stereo version on this disc. The song does appear in stereo on the SOMETHING NEW album, so you can still hear it. Odd that they didn't catch this when the box set was compiled.

Same problem here as some of the guys below. Residue marks all over every single disc making them skip. I used an alcohol wipe to dry to clean revolver and managed to clean off more than I should. it's clean now but still skips worse than before. I'm convinced that the residue is from the poly(?) half-moon inner sleeves the discs come in. They can be cleaned to a point. As for the sound, the 2009 mono remasters sound flat both here and on vinyl. I thought I was just getting old, but many guys have the same complaint. It's interesting (and somewhat refreshing) to hear these songs in their original American sequencing but the quality control is shyte.

I didn't pay attention when I bought this one. It does not include: Pepper, MMT, The White Album, Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road or Let it Be. I don't understand why the 2009 mixes were used as I thought the original American mixes were used like the Capitol Box sets: Volume One & Two. On my Beatles '65 the mono has the reverb on She's a Woman & I Feel Fine but not the stereo version on the same CD. I feel that the quality control was extremely shoddy as well. I feel that the overall mixes are sub-par. I would on this one.

I bought this sealed on Amazon USA and it didn't come with the Second Album. It's a bummer!

This is an amazing set although controversial to use 2009 remaster as a source and not including Magical Mystery Tour. It provides the authentic jackets, sleaves and song order with proper American edits. It also has both Stereo master and Mono master versions of all the songs. I compared this set to the (CD Mono box set) and the (Meet the Beatles! Japan Box) and there was no discernible difference in sound quality among the different sets. Personally I rather have the better sound quality than the authentic US Capitols that sound more compressed and have unnatural reverb added but that's just me, I know to some it makes no sense to use other sources. So if you can get this at a discount 125 or below I feel its a wonderful box set and I will enjoy playing these often.

What they say in the description notes ("however they use the 2009 remasters rather than the original US mixes") is a misrepresntation of this set. They used the 2009 remasters (remasters from the original UK tapes) in those songs where the US albums used the same mixes. So the only change is, the sound is better.
For the unique US mixes they used the Capitol tapes.
They replaced fake mono and stereo with true mono and stereo, just like in any reissue.

Avoid this version if you can...there seem to have been a lot of quality control issues. Mine was from Amazon.co.uk and it had white streaks on the playing surface and several of the CD's skipped and could not be repaired. Seems like several others have had the same results. I returned this and bought it again in the US (discogs release 0507102) and everything looks pristine. If you compare images of the two releases you can see the difference in the labels...the one from Amazon UK (this release) has matte labels that go right to the edge of the center hole, the US release 0507102 has glossy labels that leave a ring around the hole. Get that one!
