The original crowd funded album, just goes to show how far ahead of the game Blade was. I sent off my cheque (for £25 from memory) to Blade months before the album was released and my name is in the album. Every mail order piece of vinyl I bought from Blade had a hand written note from him included. Absolute legend of the UK rap scene.

Probably the pinnacle of UK rap. Now the grandfather but then the hardworking leader of the UK scene. Too many good tracks on this release. Shame that Lyrical Maniac doesn't appear in full, but, that's Blades sense of humour. Gritty and relevant to the early 90's. Still relevant today.

Edited 11 years agoBlade's debut LP is ambitious, long, funny, hard and everything inbetween. A visionary as usual. it was a brave self believing MC that would ask the fans for funding to record the album. And now what are artists doing 20+ years later? the same thing with sites like Kickstarter etc.
The LP showed all sides of Blade's personality with his sense of humour coming through when probably most people had thought he was just a angry MC. Fav tracks are No Compromise and Dark And Sinister with the equally legendary MC Mell'o'
And no my name isn't in the back i was too young to send off a cheque, my big bro's in it though...:(
