Edited 4 months agoThey have done a crime on the bass here. It’s actually shocking to hear, if you’re familiar with the original mix. I haven’t listened to the extra disc yet, but I’m 100% here for that no matter how it sounds. If you only want the Morning Bugle album, though, just buy an original pressing. It’s definitely a darker mix than this de-bass’d new version, but you want Dave Holland’s voice loud on this music.

Edited one year agoThis album is outstanding front to back and glad to see it get this treatment. The bonus material is actually album worthy... such a good release. This is what RSD is all about.
As pointed out...the mastering is more clear, more instrument separation, and more 'in the room'. They hit it out of the park and it was worth the extra money for the extra care in mastering and curating the unreleased material. -
Fine pressing of a great record, though it is my suspicion that an OG would be better off sonically. Mine does sound a little compressed.

I'm new to John Hartford, having only recently found out about him. I am just blown away by his music. I tend to listed to 60's & 70's rock, but Bela Fleck, Billy Strings, Vassar Clements, and others have exposed me to Bluegrass. Seeking to expand my Bluegrass experiences I bought this RSD 2024 release and cannot be more pleased. Now I need to find Aereo-Plain.

One of the greatest albums of all time? I think so! I have a few original copies but this sounds the best. After cleaning the vinyl is silent and the mix is hot yet it’s easy to hear space between the players. The out takes and alternates are just icing on the cake. Get it!
