Los Que Vivimos

Spanish group from Vallecas, a working class district in Madrid which had a reputation for anti-Franco resistance during the dictatorship. The young group released two singles on Belter records in 1971: Contrapunto / El Camino Del Amor and Muchacho / La Hija Del Anticuario.

According to their guitarist Laureano "Nano" they recorded a potential third single for Belter, with Greek lyrics based on Homer’s Odyssey, but this was never released.

After two years together they split up, with two of the group going on to notable success with other projects. Their drummer José Antonio Galicia (also known as “El Gali”) became a respected musician in the field of flamenco, particulary flamenco-jazz and flamenco-rock fusion. He played on ‘La Leyenda Del Tiempo’, the legendary album by Camerón (which has been featured on this blog). He died in 2003.

Mariano Diaz, their keyboard player, has played with Victor Manuel & Ana Belén. He also played with Miguel Ríos, including the huge selling live album ‘Rock & Ríos’ (1982), on which he co-wrote the song ‘El Sueño Espacial’.
