Has worked as a studio musician and his credits include albums by Dolly Parton, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Ronnie Millsap, Ringo Starr, The Doors, and many others.

Not to be confused with the country and bluegrass fiddle player from Virginia, James Buchanan.
